'Inside', (2020)

Reflecting on some or my previous experimentation with jam and tights, I noticed a resemblance to the humans inner organs. I wanted to experiment with seeing the materials in a different manner. While laying the tights filled with jam on top of each other I was reminiscing on how I feel my body fat looks like to others and myself in the mirror. Focusing on my belly, I layered them as much as I could into a shape representing my overhanging belly.

I often am positive with fat and I still do believe in the fact that every body should be loved, and that fat is merely a substance. Yet I do too get days where I dislike my fat, and I guess I have not spoke about that in my work before. However, today was one of those days and therefore 'inside' was produced. And after a long hard think about this piece I've realised how important it is to know it's okay to not feel 100% all the time. Not everything is going to be amazing all the time, and feeling not so great about your body is okay, and normal, just it's important to remember your body is amazing no matter.

(UPDATE: All the flour which is used in my projects was purchased previously to Covid-19 and I have done all I can to recycle all the flour I am using.)
