'Untitled' (2020) excided my expectations. When I thought of the experiment I never could of imagined for the work to be an outcome which turned my practice upside down. I honestly was not sure I liked the idea of my work being interactive, I had never honestly worked a lot with the interaction between my art and an individual. However, when my fellow art students interacted with my sculpture it instantly sparked so many ideas and a sudden need to produce more work. It was honestly so liberating to view my work being enjoyed. I loved seeing a physical response to my work from the individual's, I have always found it interesting to hear and reflect on peoples thoughts and feelings towards my work. But somehow viewing someone interact with the work told me so much more of a truthful response then when I have spoke to someone. As they were acting in the moment without thinking too much and over confusing their thoughts and feelings for the need to respond with something meaningful. I saw a mix of people thinking personally about the work, people exploring the materials and others generally just enjoying the work.
This peer review session was the most useful thing I had chose to do. I was nervous at first as it all was new, and the first peer review session which we had ever carried out in our Fine Art course at Plymouth University. However, it was a very joyful, educational and liberating experience. I would recommend to anyone to put your work out there on the spotlight as much as the opportunity is there, as response is primarily the reason art is crated, and learning about the response to your work is amazing! I can't thank everyone enough for joining in!
