Beauty: The Bitter Truth, (2020) is an installation space including individual experimentation gathered to explore the subject of how body fat is perceived on the body in the 21st century.
Working around the space became an interesting concept for me, as humans we interact and work around space all the time without thinking, so consciously placing my experiments places made me reflect on this further. This than influenced me to consider ways in which I can emphasize to my audience their importance to the space surrounding them and the space in which they take up with their own body mass.
My personal feelings on fat is simple. Fat is Fat. I do not believe fat should be perceived as such a tough, uncomfortable or unknown topic. I also believe that nobody should be subjected to dehumanization no matter the amount of body fat on their bodies; that being lower then average, or above average.
